BEIJING, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.49 percent, at 3,391.76 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.15 percent lower at 13,670.11 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 950.7 billion yuan (about 144.52 billion U.S. dollars), increasing from 725.7 billion yuan the previous trading day.
Shares in sectors related to liquor production, home appliance and power generating equipment were among the losers.
Bucking the downward trend, stocks in media and entertainment, non-ferrous metals and glass-manufacturing sectors led the gains, with Tibet Summit Resources Co. Ltd., a firm producing and selling non-ferrous metals, seeing its shares grow by the daily limit of 10 percent to 10.55 yuan apiece.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.49 percent to close at 2,631.89 points.
