BEIJING, May 12 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.12 percent, at 3,054.99 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.13 percent lower at 11,094.87 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 821.24 billion yuan (about 122 billion U.S. dollars), down from 1.08 trillion yuan the previous trading day.
Shares related to hospitality and catering as well as cosmetic services led the gains, and those in the agriculture and property development sectors were among the biggest losers.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.22 percent to close at 2,351.27 points.
